Welcome to the official website of Bob Jones.

Bob Jones' Music can be classified as Contemporary Classical with a mix of myriad other influences. His compositions are easy on the ear; his inspiration always emotional.

To date, Bob has written four Concertos for various instruments, a jazz Opera, a Divertimento for Voice and Strings, several songs and numerous pieces for the piano.

Bob read French at Cardiff University and spent a year in Paris studying Aesthetics at the Sorbonne before becoming a teacher of Modern Languages.

His passion for music was ever-present and while at University he played piano with the Karl Jenkins/Roger Parker Quintet which won an inter-University jazz competition. That success was partly attributed to the fact that the group had performed original pieces by Karl, Roger and Bob.

Bob left teaching to buy and run what was to become a hugely successful jazz Restaurant known as 'Gibbs' (after the venue's founder John Gibbon). Supported by the Welsh Jazz Society, celebrated artists such Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davies, John Etheridge, Tina May and Django Bates performed there.

During the same period Bob co-wrote a jazz Opera with Welsh playwright and artist Alan Osborne.

When performed at the Chapter Arts' Centre and The Sherman Theatre Cardiff by Andy Sheppard and his seminal group 'Sphere', the work was awarded critical acclaim by the Guardian newspaper.

Bob now concentrates on composition and is pleased with the success of his 'Cadenzas' presented as individual pieces. Cadenza 1 was defined as 'stunning' by the celebrated violinist Tasmin Little. Erno Kallai performed and recorded it while he was studying at the Juilliard School of Music in New York.

Bob as always continues to enjoy helping young musicians at the outset of their musical careers.
